Slam Dunk Preview

Even with Slam Dunk suffering from so many bands having to pull out, the lineup is still absolutely stacked and still has plenty of clashes! With so many class bands on the lineup, I thought it would be easiest to check out the clash finder and talk about how my day shapes up.

(Set times are for Slam Dunk South and are subject to change).

Blood Youth

11:40 – 12:10 – JägermeisterTent

As opening acts go, Blood Youth isn’t exactly a gentle way to warm up. Their recent new releases sound brutally dark and heavy and they will do a great job of waking us up for the afternoon ahead.

Roam

12:20 – 12:50 – Rock Scene Stage

Roam are a great festival band! Expect a set filled with fun hooks, catchy pop-punk choruses and perhaps some acrobatics.

Weatherstate

14:25 – 14:55 – The Key Club Stage (Left)

Weatherstate are a very welcome late edition to the lineup I loved their 2019 album ‘Born a Cynic’ so I’m looking forward to hearing some of it live.

Your Demise

15:40 – 16:20 -Jägermeister Tent

2021, bitch! I loved this band as a teenager but never had the opportunity of seeing them live. Well, now is my chance. This could well be a one off so I will be making the most of this for sure!

Trash Boat

16:20 – 17:00 – Jägermeister Tent

Trash Boat are always brilliant live and they’ve got a brand new album out so that means new songs to play live. I am also keeping an eye on that secret set on the key club stage but it will need to be something special to drag me away from Trash Boat.

State Champs

16:25 – 19:10 – Rock Scene Stage

I’ve seen them quite a few times now and State Champs never disappoint! If I’m going to lose my voice to any band today, it will probably be them.

Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls

19:35 – 20:25 – Punk in Drublic Stage

My one and only planned visit to the Punk In Drublic stage will be for Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls because how can I resist an early afternoon folk-punk singalong?

While She Sleeps

20:00 – 21:00 – Jägermeister Stage

I will have to leave Frank’s set early to catch While She Sleeps. They’re one of my personal favourite bands and they’ve released a new album this year which has reportedly sounded phenomenal live. Surely unmissable?

Boston Manor

20:20 – 20:55 – The Key Club Stage (Left)

After having my plan for the day set, Slam Dunk surprised us with the addition of Boston Manor to close out the Key Club stages. I’m not saying I will definately be seeing them but it’s going to be hard to resist and I may have to miss some of While She Sleeps. Decisions, decisions!

Don Broco

20:50 – 22:00 – Rock Scene Stage

There’s no decision to be made here, Don Broco will be my headliners. Always outstanding live and with new songs to add to their set, this could end up being one to remember.

It says a lot about the strength of the lineup that Slam Dunk have assembled, despite difficult circumstances, when there are still so many bands that I will miss out on due to clashes. Leaving Vukovi, Holding Absence, Wargasm, Static Dress and others out of my schedule has not been an easy decision to make at all!
